Camo Jolts

Today I painted some more Nerf Jolts. Zach wanted me to do his in a different color to mine
so I did his green and Matt black. Hey these jolts really pack a punch & they are still surprising me on how
far they go .And they a  easy and quick load love these things.

  1. Hey, with the painting of the nerf guns, did you use spray cans or air brush?
Also anything in particular you need to do to the guns prior to painting. other then taping what you don't what coloured etc.

  2. Hi Nathaniel ,I got a bit lazy with these Jolts I didn't sand them back, I just used a hi Quailty paint.
I was told that it wasn't necessary to sand them.I did two coats for the base coat and I used the other colour for the camoflauge . Then I coated it with two layers of clear to protect the paint from scratches.I didnt use any tape for this job I just waited for the base coat to dry.
The paints I used was Tamiya spray cans. The only problem was the cost $11 bucks per can and they are really small cans.
Here is a quote from Tamiya web site.

These cans of spray paint are extremely useful for painting large surfaces. The paint is synthetic lacquer that cures in a short period of time. Each can contains 100ml of paint, which is enough to fully cover 2 or 3, 1/24 scale sized car bodies. Tamiya spray paints are not affected by acrylic or enamel paints. Therefor, following the painting of the entire assembly, details can be added or picked out using enamel and/or acrylic paints. By combining of three different paints, the decoration of plastic models will become simpler and more effective.

    1. Thanks, good to know, was so hoping it wasn't air brush. So basically a lacquer (or synthetic lacquer) based paint is the way to go, or just any model based spray paint.

will definitely have to check out the ones mentioned and see if i can find cheap on ebay or something.
